Karnataka's Mysore is where kota sarees originally appeared. A few talented Masuria weavers were invited to Kota from Mysore by Maharaj Kishore Singh in the latter half of the 17th century. These weavers brought silk yarn to Kota's Doria weaving. The Kota-Masuria saree was created as a result of the unification of two princely realms.
